News & Updates on the Life of the Church

Beans Corner Corona Virus Update

Greetings Bean’s Corner Family,

I wanted to update you on our latest adjustments to the current situation.  We need to remember that Church is WHO we are, not WHERE we are.    We are all learning new ways to carry out Jesus’ Mission to Make Disciples.
-All services and group meetings are discontinued as well as any get-togethers greater than 10.  Within these limitations and following all precautions, please find ways to stay connected and have fellowship with each other.  We will reassess our next steps on April 6th.
-We are setting up a care network for older & at-risk people who can’t leave home involving checking in by phone, and possible delivery of goods.  If you are in need of help or if you are able to help provide this care, please contact Rick & Lisa Simoneau 207-779-4600 or 207-779-4400

-We will be doing online-only services the next three Sundays at 10:30 AM on Facebook Live.  (this is a change from our normal streaming time).  This Sunday we will be doing communion!  We’ll send a separate message on how that will work.

-We are doing an online Bible Study in Jeremiah and we will continue to do our 3 o’clock study live online on Sunday afternoon at 3pm.
-All our video updates, services, and studies are also being posted on our Church YouTube page.
-If you are not on our email/text/calling list for the church, send us your contact information and how you would like to receive alerts.

-As we work to serve our community, it is crucial that we keep sharing our resources.  As much as you are able, please continue to making giving part of your worship by either mailing in your tithe & offering or doing it online http://www.beanscorner.org/give/

-Finally, PRAY.   Let us join our hearts together in prayer for our church, our towns, our state, the nation, and the world.  May we be a light in the darkness.
On behalf of the whole leadership team here at Bean’s Corner, we love you and are here with you.

Bean’s Corner Statement on the Corona virus situation.

We know that there is great concern surrounding the world-wide spread of the virus.  We do not fear because of faith in God, and we seek to be wise in dealing with the situation and fulfill the Biblical command to love our neighbor.

As we move forward we will be constantly reviewing & updating our plans and responses as more information becomes available.

For THIS WEEK we are taking the following steps.

-We will be holding services this Sunday with modified procedures.  Neither of our services fall under the state guidelines for groups over 250.

-We will not be serving breakfast.

-We will not be scheduling communion during this time.

-Our greeters will not be shaking hands (and all should avoid doing so) and bulletins will be put out on a table but not passed out.

-Offering plates will not be passed but instead be placed by the doors for you to drop your gifts in.  Remember you may also give electronically through our website; www.beanscorner.org.

-If you are sick or have been in contact with others who have been at risk of exposure, we ask that you stay at home and join us on the live stream available through Facebook.

-If you are at greater risk, due to age or medical condition, we encourage you to shelter at home.  Please communicate with us any needs or support you need.

-Before & after services, all main doors will be propped open to minimize shared contact on surfaces.

-Smaller groups, including the communities are not affected at this time, and we encourage everyone to stay in touch even if you must stay away.  We must not come apart even when we need to observe safe distances.

Remember that God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power, and love, and of a sound mind.  As a church, we will seek to care for one another and our community during this time of trial, showing love, not fear, and being wise in the Lord.

I love you all,
Ira

Stand in the Gap Night

“Life is messy, let’s do it together” has become one of our unofficial motto’s as we come together to learn Christ, grow closer to Him and more like Him, and figure out how to yield to Him, especially through some of the tougher times of life.  We have many in our family who are going through times of struggle, hardship and pain.  Marriages struggling or being torn apart, the loss of children or other loved ones, economic, mental, emotional, physical struggles are all going on in our midst.

Saturday night we come together to help fulfill the command to “bear one another’s burdens and thus fulfill the law of Christ” and weep with those who weep.   We will pray for one another and stand up before God for one another.  Intercession is crucial to our love for one another.

So a meal, music that helps orient our hearts and minds toward the work of God, and then prayer for one another as we corporately care for each other.  If you are part of us, I pray you will join the Body coming together this Saturday night for one of the most important aspects of being the Church.

What Do You See, Amos?

We are excited to announce our February/March series as we dive into the book of Amos over the next 6 weeks.  Amos spoke to Israel during a successful time, but his message was a warning of what was going wrong during such “great” times.  The series will challenge us to understand our world today and our calling as God’s people.  The series unfolds as follows:

  1. Best of Times, Worst of Times (Chapters 1 & 2).  Amos has a message for all the countries, but the big ending hits home.
  2. All in the Family (Chapter 3).  A special relationship came with responsibility.  Faith had been broken.
  3. Holy Cow (Chapter 4).  A good economy and thriving religion should be good, right?
  4. And Justice for All (Chapter 5).  Amos explains the relationship between worship & justice.
  5. Getting Comfortable (Chapter 6).  What gets missed when things are good?
  6. Some Call it Treason (Chapters 7-9).  Ignoring God, and silence from Him.  Hope does remain.

We hope you will join us for this study as we dig deeper into God’s Word and hear what He is saying to us in our day to day lives.

‘Tis the Season

Christmas season is again upon us and we are looking forward to celebrating God’s gift for us and understanding what it means for us not only with God, but with one another.  We will have many chances to celebrate together this December.  Saturday December 1st (5:30 pm) we will have a special dinner, enjoy the children putting on a Christmas program, and shower one of our missionaries (Keith Jewett) with gifts.
After one more week of Swimming in the Desert, we will start our Christmas Series, “Gift Exchange” where we’ll see a real switch.
Part 1-A Poor Start
Part 2-The Substitute King
Part 3-Christmas Spirit
Christmas Eve-The Opposite of Religion.
Also coming up with be our choir’s Christmas cantata (details to follow).
We’ve also started a special Christmas series in our weekly podcast/Radio Show, The Corner of Truth & Life.
So join us, follow us, and together we will learn, grow, and celebrate the greatest gift mankind has ever known!

Do you know Love?

Our world is very short on love these days.  Loneliness, feelings of isolation, hatred & anger, and blame all fill our lives and social spaces.  The Bible says that God is love and that God loves us.  Why do we feel so bad if this is true?  What does it mean in real life, and day to day?  So we will spend five weeks seeking to learn and understand what it means, and how in a world so lacking in love, how we can thrive in love.  Or in other words, how to go Swimming in the Desert.  We hope you will join us Sunday Mornings at 8 AM or 10:30 AM.

i am…… (Summer Series)

We are excited to begin our summer series, “i am.”   We tend to think of sins as big bad things we do, and while that is true, our issues are much bigger.  We struggle with “falling short” every day in small ways too.  How do we deal with the tough moments of live and the different things that go wrong in our life?  This series will look at these issues and the role GRACE plays in the solution.  We’d love to have you join us on Sundays at 8 AM or 1o AM.
